Description |
First Nations costume consisting of a tunic and gaiters (see 1957.022.002b). The tunic is an off-white tanned leather (Deerskin?) over-the-head style with a V-neck and long sleeves. It is thigh length and has leather fringeson the neckline, yoke, sleeves (especially long fringes here), wrists, back and bottom. There is a beaded panel extending from either wrist to the neckline. Mainly of red beads, with flowers and leaves from green, mauve and aqua beads with black edges and connecting lines sleeves design a bit different from the shoulder design. There are drawings in black ink of 2 spotted elephants on the back. 2 shell ornaments are suspended by thongs at the back of the neck. |
